LCDs

What is LCD?

LCD is short for 'liquid crystal display' which is a type of display that uses an array of crystals in front of a backlight source. When voltage is applied to these crystals they twist to allow varying amounts of light to pass through color filters, this is a process that happens at every pixel to essentially display the entire image on the screen or TV.

LCDs consume less electricity and produce less heat than plasmas and use a screen coating that reflects very little light reflecting glare benefiting viewing in bright rooms. The LCD technology allows for the production of very light weight televisions.
